UK Shoppers turn to Amazon amid Covid-19 pandemic

During the Covid-19 pandemic I found myself turning more and more to Amazon to purchase items rather than venturing to the supermarket. As well as purchasing electrical’s from Amazon, I found myself utilising Amazon for more home based items that I would usually have purchased at the grocery store. Items such as Batteries, Dvd’s and gifts. So, I decided to setup a Twitter survey to see if it was just me, or whether other UK Shoppers turn to Amazon amid Covid-19 pandemic.

Has your use of Amazon changed since the outbreak of Covid-19?

The question was asked to my largely UK Twitter following over a period of 24 hours. Followers were also asked if they would kindly ‘Retweet’ so the question to reach a larger audience. The survey achieved 751 impressions and was answered 38 times.

The winning answer to the question, ‘Has your use of Amazon changed since the outbreak of Covid-19?’ was: ‘Yes – I use it a lot more’ running on 42.1% of people who responded to the survey. Although a small dip sample, almost half of respondents said they were now using Amazon a lot more since the outbreak of Covid-19 which is phenomenal. The survey also found 2.6% of participants had started using Amazon for the first time since the outbreak of Covid-19.

Other answers also identified some interesting results. 15.8% of participants identified themselves as not even being an Amazon user of any products or services.
